Wichita Spirit AeroSystems Workers Remain Unconcerned Despite Boeing Defense Strike In St. Louis
Last year an Alaska Airlines 737 MAX had a door plug blow out in flight which was later determined to be caused by failure to reinstall some securing bolts during fuselage assembly by Spirit. The manufacturer laid off about 450 workers in the wake of the subsequent production slowdown that the incident caused, as AP News reported.
Boeing union workers who make fighter jets will strike Monday
Unionized workers who assemble Boeing’s fighter jets in the St. Louis area rejected Boeing’s latest contract offer on Sunday and will strike at midnight on Monday, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers union said.
Union members said that they gave a lot in recent contracts and feel this one needs to recognize that sacrifice.
Senator Josh Hawley is calling for Boeing and its president to take action, following a recent toxic chemical leak.
