California Democrats are rushing to schedule an election to remake U.S. House districts to counter plans to boost Republican seats in Texas.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is asking a California court to recognize civil warrants issued in Texas calling for the arrest and return of House Democrats that left the state to break quorum and prevent a vote on redrawn congressional maps.

After the Texas House failed to make a quorum on Tuesday, Texas Democrats were told to return to Austin by Friday​ or face consequences.
