Grammy-, and Emmy-winning composer known for Broadway's Annie and Bye Bye Birdie, has died. He was 96. Strouse died at his home in New York City on Thursday, a spokesman for the family confirmed to Entertainment Weekly.

Charles Strouse, the Broadway composer and lyricist who wrote some of the most beloved musicals – many of which became big screen offerings, including Annie, Bye Bye Birdie, and Applause – ha s died at the age of 96.
