Google is expanding its AI-powered age checks to more of its apps, and your search history could now get you flagged as a teen.

Powered by artificial intelligence, the new tool will assess a person's age based on their activity on the platform — regardless of the birthday listed on their account.

YouTube will start using machine learning to determine whether viewers should be on a teen account. The company said it plans to start using this AI application on a subset of US users in the coming weeks for a trial before rolling it out to the rest of the market.

Google confirmed it will sign the European Union's general purpose AI code of practice. Meta has already said it will not sign the voluntary framework.

The voluntary code of practice aims to provide legal certainty to signatories on how to meet requirements under the Artificial Intelligence Act.
