Army football coach Jeff Monken is reportedly a leading candidate for vacancies at North Carolina and West Virginia. ESPN reported that North Carolina has spoken to Monken about replacing Mack Brown, who was fired in late November prior to the regular season finale against archrival N.C. State.

The Army West Point Black Knights finished the season ranked No. 22 in the College Football Playoff rankings, making them the second-highest ranked Group of 5 team, behind only Boise State. The Broncos made the playoff as the highest-ranked Group of 5 conference champion.
