An explosion at a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department training facility killed three veteran deputies from the arson and explosives unit.
It was not immediately clear what they were doing when the explosion happened in a parking lot at the Biscailuz Training Facility or what caused it.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said Thursday that the law requires inmates be turned over to ICE when a federal judge issues a warrant, but the department also continues to follow 'sanctuary' policies and does not cooperate on civil immigration enforcement.
Twenty-six people have died in LA County jails this year, with over half yet to be sentenced, and the county's failure to address the issues driving incarceration may lead to more deaths.
