Jimmer Fredette, the 2011 Associated Press men’s college basketball player of the year who went on to become an NBA lottery pick and then played for the U.S. in 3x3 at last year’s Paris Olympics, has announced his retirement.

The former BYU star and consensus National Player of the Year spent more than a decade playing professionally across the world.

Jimmer Fredette, a college basketball standout who later starred in China and with USA Basketball, announced his retirement from the game on Wednesday. "It's time to say goodbye to basketball," he posted to X.
