Russian drone crashes in Polish field; Warsaw protests airspace violation and plans formal complaint
A drone believed to be a Russian Shahed variant hit the Osiny village in Poland's Lublin province, shattering windows in homes but causing no injuries to residents.
WARSAW - Polish officials said on Wednesday they were not ruling out that an object that exploded overnight in a field in eastern Poland was a Russian or smuggling drone, or a case of sabotage, though they had not detected anything entering Polish airspace.
Poland, a NATO country, was forced to scramble jets due to Russian missile and drone strikes on Ukraine just across its border and far from the front line.
General Dariusz Malinowski said the drone appeared to be a decoy that was designed to self-destruct. He said it had a Chinese engine.
