Days of torrential rain threaten lives and property, with up to 12 inches of rain possible in some areas, overwhelming storm drains and causing widespread washouts. The southeastern United States is facing a serious flash flood threat as a prolonged period of torrential downpours is expected to ruin outdoor plans and create hazardous conditions.

August will continue where July left off in terms of flash flooding, as many inches of rain are forecast to pour down, especially from northern Florida and southeastern Alabama to southern Georgia and the Carolinas.

Another days-long stretch of soggy weather is plaguing the Southeast, raising fears of flash flooding and washing out another precious summer weekend along its popular beaches.
