The release of the upcoming RPG Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is likely far, far away. While last night's announcement trailer at The Game Awards 2025 was surely exciting for Knights of the Old Republic fans, the truth is that the game, led by original KOTOR and Mass Effect director Casey Hudson, is in a very early stage of development.
Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is led by Casey Hudson, former director of the much-loved Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect trilogy. The development studio is Edmonton, Alberta-based Arcanaut Studios.
Gamble, who is currently leading up development of the next Mass Effect game at BioWare, has reacted to the news on Twitter, saying that the original Knights of the Old Republic is "the reason I came to BioWare." Gamble joined the studio as a project manager on Mass Effect 2, most recently being an executive producer on Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
