Tony Iommi, British heavy metal band Black Sabbath’s co-founder and guitarist is of the opinion that his late bandmate Ozzy Osbourne waited to perform at the band’s farewell concert before passing away. Osbourne, who died on July 22, performed at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK, on July 5 with the original members, Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward.

Iconic Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has opened up about the recent death of longtime bandmate and fellow icon, Ozzy Osbourne. The 76-year-old passed away on Tuesday, just weeks after his final performance with other original Black Sabbath members on their home turf in Birmingham, England.

Osbourne, who battled Parkinson’s before his death, sat onstage in a black leather chair as he performed for the 42,000-person crowd. He sang five songs by himself, before he was joined by his former bandmates for four Black Sabbath songs.

"It's just such heartbreaking news that I can't really find the words, there won't ever be another like him," Iommi said.
