A windy and warmer day kicks off Friday in Chicago, but a severe storm threat is expected to develop after dark, bringing with it the possibility for damaging winds.  CBS Chicago meteorologist Laura Bannon says the risk of severe thunderstorms increases late Friday night.

Sunny, windy, and warm. Fire weather and blowing dust are a concern today. Strong winds, dry conditions, and low humidity means fires could easily get out of control and dust will be able to travel more easily.

The National Weather Service continues to update its forecast for Friday night's severe weather in the Tri-State. The risk of tornadoes has increased.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington issued a wind advisory on Friday for several central Ohio counties. Franklin, Delaware, Union, and Madison counties are under the wind advisory until 8 p.m.

EDT a wind advisory was issued by the National Weather Service valid from 11 p.m. EDT until Saturday 8 a.m. EDT for Baraga and Marquette counties.

At 12:02 a.m. on Friday, the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA released a wind advisory in effect until 3 a.m. The advisory is for Santa Barbara County Southwestern Coast, Santa Ynez Mountains Western Range and Santa Ynez Mountains Eastern Range.
