The cloud-computing division of the internet giant is used by thousands of internet customers, many of whom reported disruptions on Monday.
Amazon Web Services is recovering after an outage that disrupted Facebook, Snapchat, Fortnite, Coinbase and other major platforms, once again illustrating the internet’s heavy reliance on the cloud giant and a lack of redundancy in online services.
The outage Monday affected people and businesses all across the world. According to CNET, Downdetector saw over 9.8 million reports, including 2.7 million coming from the U.S. and 1.1 million from the UK. That included United Airlines, McDonald's and Venmo. Amazon said late Monday afternoon its systems are mostly back online.
