The Spartans got up for their first ranked matchup of the season against Arkansas and came away with a team victory.

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The Saturday men’s basketball game between No. 14 Arkansas and No. 22 Michigan State was, at times, ugly. The Razorbacks did not make a field goal in the final 2:43 and the Spartans did not convert a field goal in the final 6:02. “I’m not sure either team played great,” Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said.

M ichigan State basketball hosted Colgate on Monday night to kickoff the season. To its credit, Colgate, led by coach Matt Langel, threw several haymakers at the Spartans before MSU finally put it down in the second half to start the season 1-0.
