An ICE agent shot and killed a woman today during an immigration-related operation in Minneapolis in which she did not appear to be the target.

Federal immigration officials have stepped up enforcement activity in Minnesota amid a fraud scandal there that includes many people of Somali origin.

“We’re demanding ICE to leave the city immediately,” Mayor Jacob Frey, a Democrat, said on social media, saying that the shooting involved an agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
