In a pitching matchup that lived up to the hype, George Kirby outlasted Paul Skenes to combine on the Mariners’ third consecutive shutout of the Pirates on Sunday.
Sunday's win marked the first time Mariners recorded three consecutive shutouts in franchise history. They won the three-game set against the Pirates by scores of 6-0, 1-0 and 1-0.
This makes it back-to-back shutout losses to the Mariners, as they dropped a 6-0 contest in the series opener on July 4. It also makes it four straight road series that they Pirates have lost.
