Texas received two big blows on its way to the College Football Playoff last season, both at the hands of Georgia.
In the SEC, Alabama, No. 4 in the AP Top 25, hosts No. 11 Oklahoma as a 6.5-point favorite on BetMGM. The Crimson Tide are 6-0 in the SEC and three of those opponents are currently ranked in the AP poll. Oklahoma has two losses and could vault into the College Football Playoff picture with a win, or likely be removed from contention with a loss.
According to ESPN BET, Georgia is favored by 6.5 points on Saturday. A win for the Bulldogs would give them one of the stronger resumes in college football, possibly eliminate Texas from playoff contention and also push their record against the Longhorns to 3-1 all time.
Texas' pass defense has struggled with Taaffe out. Mississippi State passed for 382 yards and five touchdowns Oct. 25 against the Longhorns, then Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia lit the Longhorns up for 365 yards and three touchdowns a week later.
Week 12 of the college football season brings a number of critical games with conference title and College Football Playoff implications. The two biggest games belong to the SEC, where the two newcomers to the conference go on the road to face the SEC's most dominant teams over the last two decades.
