Arkansas jumped four spots to No. 7 after sweeping Texas, but that didn't convince the 4-person voting panel to move the Longhorns out of the top spot because of how the teams directly behind them did.

Playing in a conference with thin margins hardly defined the inevitable bad weekend in SEC play for the Texas Longhorns as the Arkansas Razorbacks bludgeoned head coach Jim Schlossnagle’s program in a weekend sweep in Fayetteville as the home team outscored the visitors 28-9.

Schlossnagle found Texas’ inability to throw strikes more difficult to accept than Arkansas’ power surge. Between walks and hit batters, the Longhorns allowed 31 free passes over the course of the series.
