The news comes just over a month after the introduction of the best Asian pop music performance category.

The massively popular K-pop boyband announced they would not submit for consideration for the Recording Academy’s awards this year, in apparent protest of a new Asian Pop Music category.

"I am saddened to hear that BTS has chosen not to participate in the Grammy Awards process this year," said Grammy CEO Harvey Mason jr.

BTS could have its biggest Grammy year yet at the 2027 ceremony thanks to Arirang, “Swim” and “Normal.” The group remains winless after five nominations, but the new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category may give the septet its clearest path to a first trophy as a performing act.
