Michel Barnier is forced out as France's prime minister in a no-confidence vote. He was appointed after July’s inconclusive parliamentary election.

French lawmakers voted to oust French Prime Minister Michel Barnier on Wednesday in the first successful vote of no confidence in more than 60 years.

Prime Minister Michel Barnier will most likely remain as a caretaker until a replacement is named. But the vote could further unsettle credit markets and create a wider opening for the far right.
