The Houston Astros are making a significant call up to fill an opening in their starting rotation. As reported by Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 in Houston, the Astros are calling up left-hander Colton Gordon from Triple-A Sugar Land to start Wednesday's series finale against the Kansas City Royals.

Hooks, the Astros' Double-A affiliate, notched seven hits -- including three home runs, a triple and two doubles -- 11 RBIs and seven runs scored ... and that was just from two players in the team's 20-14 shellacking of Frisco at Riders Field on Tuesday.

Gordon has gotten off to a dominant start in 2025, pitching to a 2.55 ERA in 42 1/3 innings over eight starts. He's fanned 25.3% of hitters and only walked 4.7% of batters. His 43.5% ground-ball rate offers a solid projection to his ability as a major league starter.

Yuli Gurriel, who was released by the San Diego Padres earlier this year, is trying to do all he can to keep his major league career going.
