The deep depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal remains nearly stationary, located about 100 km east-northeast of Trincomalee. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai, it is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm within the next 12 hours.

As Cyclone Fengal slowly approached Tamil Nadu coast, the Indian Navy mobilised disaster response efforts, focusing on relief operations, rescue missions, and close coordination with Tamil Nadu authorities to mitigate the cyclone's impact.

Most importantly IMD stated that there is a possibility of marginal intensification of the deep depression into a cyclonic storm.

Several districts in Tamil Nadu have been experiencing heavy rainfall due to the northeast monsoon. A heavy rain warning has been issued due to the Fengal cyclone formed in the Bay of Bengal. The northeast monsoon commenced early in Tamil Nadu on October 15th.

The IMD forecasts heavy to very heavy rainfall in coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on November 27, with isolated areas receiving extremely heavy rainfall. The downpour is likely to persist from November 28 to 30,
