Apple has priced an iPhone XR repair at a similar level to the iPhone 8 Plus, which seems a fair basis given that both models share a larger LCD screen.

Where an out-of-warranty or iPhone XR screen repair necessitated by accidental damage costs the user $199, other damage including the rear of the phone is set to $399.

Consider that the iPhone XR starts at $749 for the 64GB version, and a single cracked screen will cost you about 25% of the purchase price of the smartphone.

On Monday, Apple added the iPhone XR to its iPhone service pricing support page. According to the site, it costs $199 (or £196.44 and AU$318.95) to repair a broken iPhone XR screen through Apple.

The Apple iPhone XR is official, bringing the company's first ever notch display with an LCD screen it calls the Liquid Retina. Apple also calls this "the most advanced LCD ever in a smartphone".

The iPhone XR has a 6.1-inch LCD display, in contrast to the OLED displays of the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max.
