DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A portion of Highway 78 in Dorchester County remains closed Sunday while crews work to clean up a train derailment. The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office said Highway 78 is closed from Jedburg Road to Deming Way.

The National Transportation Safety Board has released new information on the Calera train derailment that killed a CSX Transportation conductor from Mountain Brook in December.

Emergency crews from multiple agencies are responding Saturday morning to a train derailment in Dorchester County. The derailment occurred near the KION North America plant, located off West 5th North Street (Highway 78).
