Yashasvi Jaiswal confirmed his status as India’s new batting star with an unbeaten century and shared a record 201-run opening stand with KL Rahul as India batted to a likely unbeatable position in the opening Border-Gavaskar test at the Perth Stadium.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is a run machine. In the first Test against Australia, the man failed in the first innings but redeemed himself in the second innings with an epic 161. It helped India set a 534-run target in Perth and eventually win by 295 runs to lead the series 1-0.

Still in a haze after its day-one collapse, Australia returned to Perth Stadium to find itself in the thick of a proper Test match — one which may well confirm the arrival of India's next great batting champion.
