For the second straight season, the Colorado Avalanche were hot going into the midseason break and then stumbled its way through a road trip coming out of it.

Not the weekend the Avalanche needed playing against subpar competition. Colorado started okay and fell flat on their faces in the final two periods against the St. Louis Blues, falling by a score of 3-1.

To add to the sting of the loss, The Avs had to watch both Dallas and Minnesota come out of their respective matchups with two points, as well as watch both Winnipeg and St. Louis draw points out of their contest with each other,
