Rahul had been acquired by the Capitals for Rs 14 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah after parting ways with the Lucknow Super Giants, whom he had led for three seasons including in their debut season in 2022.

While Delhi Capitals did not retain Rishabh Pant, Jindal and Co. went up till the Rs 20.75 crore mark to use the RTM for him before Lucknow Super Giants made a humongous lift to Rs 27 crore and snapped up the bid.

Following the mega-auction, Parth Jindal, co-owner of DC, shared insights into Rahul's sentiments. In an interview with ESPNcricinfo, Jindal disclosed that he has known Rahul for an extended period and that the player expressed a desire to receive love and support from the franchise.

Parth Jindal, co-owner of the Delhi Capitals, said that the group attempted to retain Rishabh Pant before to the IPL MEGA auction, but conflicting mindsets hampered their efforts. Jindal said that Pant's ambition for leadership and team direction did not coincide with the owners' vision.

The batter, however, went on to become the costliest buy in the IPL history after being acquired by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 27 crore ($3.21 million).
