A Bangladeshi advocate Ramen Roy, who purportedly defended arrested Hindu monk Chinmoy Das, was allegedly attacked and is in critical condition.

Das claimed Ramen Roy was targeted solely for defending Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu Das in court. A group of alleged Islamists reportedly ransacked his home and left him critically injured.

KOLKATA: ISKCON on Monday claimed that Advocate Ramen Roy, who had defended Bangladesh's Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu in a legal case there, was brutally attacked in the neighbouring country and is now fighting for his life in a hospital.

Radharamn Das, spokesperson for International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Kolkata, on Monday claimed that the advocate defending Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das is currently struggling for his life.

Kolkata spokesperson Radharamn Das on Sunday claimed two more Hindu priests have been arrested in Bangladesh amid an escalation in atrocities faced by the minority community members in the country since Muhammad Yunus-led interim government took charge in August.

ISKCON followers held prayers and 'kirtan' at its Albert Road centre in Kolkata to highlight the plight of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh, where they are suffering atrocities.

Sixty-three Bangladeshi Iskcon monks with valid travel documents were prevented from entering India at the Benapole border by Bangladeshi authorities over 'suspicious activities'. This move coincides with global protests by Iskcon devotees against the alleged persecution in Bangladesh.
