Pittsburgh leadoff hitter Spencer Horwitz did the most damage, belting two of the homers and driving in a career-high six runs.

The Rockies trailed 9-0 after the top of the first inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates. They trailed 16-12 after the top of the ninth. And yet, they won 17-16. Center fielder Brenton Doyle supplied the final blow, clubbing a walk-off, two-run homer off Pirates reliever Dennis Santana.

At Coors Field, despite weak lineups, the Rockies and Pirates have scored numerous runs this series. The odds favor the Pirates; high scores are likely.

The impacts of playing at Coors Field’s altitude are, in the words of Blue Jays manager John Schneider, “a real thing.” But Toronto made all the right adjustments on its way to a thrashing of the Rockies on Monday night.
