Gavin Williams of the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday was two outs from throwing the first no-hitter of the 2025 Major League Baseball season, but New York Mets slugger Juan Soto was not in a cooperative mood. With one out in the ninth and the Mets trailing 4-0, Soto got a 1-0 fastball from Williams, and he didn't miss:

But Juan Soto spoiled the party. The Mets slugger hit a deep fly ball to center field on a 1-0 fastball that Williams left over the plate. Centerfielder Angel Martinez gave chase and made a play on the ball at the wall. But the ball snuck over his glove and just over the wall for a home run before bouncing back into the field of play.

The suddenly offensively-challenged Mets were nearly a victim of a no-hitter at the hands of Gavin Williams and the Guardians before a Juan Soto HR.
