A shelter-in-place was lifted at the University of Virginia and classes were canceled Tuesday after police were searching for a man accused of fleeing a traffic stop.

The University of Virginia Police Department posted an alert on their Facebook asking all students faculty, and staff to shelter in place.

A shelter in place order was issued on the University of Virginia campus early Tuesday morning as police responded to reports of a suspect involved in multiple car crashes near Alderman Road and McCormick Road.

The University of Virginia on Tuesday issued a shelter in place order after a wanted man was spotted in the campus. Staff and students were asked to avoid the suspect, who is described as a 6’4 black man wearing a gray hoodie.

The University of Virginia was placed on lockdown and classes were canceled Tuesday as police searched for a man last seen on Grounds.
