Less than 15 hours after getting booed off the mound for the pummeling he took at the hands of the Cincinnati Reds hitters, newly acquired Chicago Cubs reliever Andrew Kittredge needed just nine pitches to strike out all three Reds he faced in the seventh inning of the Reds’ 6-1 loss to the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Aug. 6.

Boston ended up with Dustin May, but he isn't the only starter the Red Sox pursued. Joe Ryan of the Minnesota Twins was the guy who was talked about the most when it came to Boston. But, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported that the Red Sox and Chicago Cubs were the "most active" teams in the Sandy Alcántara sweepstakes.

The Chicago Cubs made a risky move when they traded for starting pitcher Mike Soroka ahead of last week's deadline, and that risk may not have paid off.

The Cubs acknowledged the risk they took trading for the now-injured Michael Soroka following a recent dip in velocity, saying it was a "good bet to make."
