United Nations climate negotiators agreed on a funding formula to help developing countries cope with the effects of climate change early Sunday in Azerbaijan after two weeks of intense negotiations.

It’s not near the $1.3 trillion developing countries were asking for, but it’s three times the 2009 deal that is expiring.

Some hailed it as a good step forward, but delegates from poorer countries said it wasn’t enough to help them meet their goals.
