Gunn, Margot Robbie and Suicide Squad
Digest more
It doesn't sound like The Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie will reprise her role as Harley Quinn in the DCU, while The Batman Part II might be causing James Gunn and Peter Safran a bit of a headache.
Firstly, a little background. Suicide Squad was followed-up by the film Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). Birds of Prey received a much warmer critical reception.
Here’s how it works. After over 20 years of appearances in animation, comic book and video games, Harley Quinn is finally bring brought to the big screen this summer for Suicide Squad.
And then we have Harley in Suicide Squad, mired in fierce controversy. When Harley got a reboot in 2011 for the New 52, hair double-dyed, boobs akimbo, it caused more than a little bit of fury.
With the launch of the New 52 universe, Harley was a member of the Suicide Squad and had a completely new look to her. She was less circus and more heavy metal with the corset and thigh high boots.
Harley Quinn is rocking a radically different costume this August for Suicide Squad, but the clownish villain almost did get to wear her original threads in live action.
