This family reunion could get really awkward. Turns out that Madonna, whose 1989 video for the song "Like a Prayer" was called "a blasphemy and insult" to the Catholic church, is related to Pope Leo XIV,

The newly appointed Pope Leo XIV has several star-studded branches on his family tree. The Times took deep dive into the new pope’s lineage and found that his cousins include Madonna, Justin Bieber and Angelina Jolie.

According to professor and historian Henry Louis Gates Jr., published in the New York Times, Madonna and Pope Leo are ninth cousins, various times removed. Gates Jr. says the two are related through a distant maternal ancestor who was born in the 1590s.
