STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The estimated Powerball jackpot has reached $1 billion, with a cash value of $461.3 million, for Saturday’s drawing, according to the New York Lottery website. The entry period will close at 10 p.m. on Saturday, and the drawing will take place at 10:59 p.m., the website said.

A Long Island man scored big in the New York Lottery, winning a $1 million second prize in the Powerball game for matching the first five numbers drawn on Sept. 6, lottery officials announced.

There was no jackpot winner for Saturday's Powerball drawing, which means that Monday's drawing Dec. 15, if there is a winner, would be the fifth largest jackpot in Powerball history. This jackpot is an estimated $1.1 billion for Monday night's drawing, according to the Powerball website. The cash value is $503.4 million.
