The SACP which launched a scathing attack on the ANC for including the DA in the GNU will contest the 2026 elections independently.

The South African Communist Party have decided to contest the 2026 local government elections alone, but citizens think they would fail without the ANC's support.

SACP general secretary Solly Mapaila told the media that the decision to contest the elections was taken last year, but decided to pause the move because of how the “imperialist forces” fought to bring the ANC down.

The SACP, after sharply criticising the ANC for partnering with the DA to establish the GNU, has decided to contest the 2026 elections independently.
