It’s a feeding strategy that only works when there is no current. If the water was moving, the bubbles the Humpback releases from their blowhole would not remain intact and expand to rise and form the “net”. That’s right, Humpbacks must be able to judge whether it is slack tide or there is a back eddy to know that only then will bubble-net feeding work!
