Grilled bread and cheese with salad and dressing (tartine de Rocamadour)

In between Christmas and New Year, I visited the very beautiful town of Rocamadour in south-central France. The town is built on the side of a cliff and pilgrims climb a couple of hundred steps to this sanctuary of eight chapels. I was lucky enough (and early enough) to be the only person there, aside from an elderly nun putting out votive candles for pilgrims.
